In continuation of my Confidenti-l Despatch of
the 17th. December, 1914, I have the honour to transit for your information a copy of a letter addressed by the General Officer Commanding to the Secretary to the War Office covering a further report by the Consul-General for the United States of Azerice on the accommodation of the Pris.ners of War intered in this colony. A copy of a note verbale dated 5th. June,1916, from the Foreign Office, Berlin, (copy enclosed) was forwarded to Mr. G. E. Anderson the Consul-General in Hongkong for the United States of America by the Department of State at Washington request- -ing him to visit the Prisoners of War Camp with a view to taking any steps which might be ecessary on behalf of the Prisoners.

On the 25th. Au ust Major-General Ventris the General Officer Commanding accompanied Hr. Anderson on an inspect- -ion and every facility was given to enable Mr. Anderson to inter- -view the prisoner and to receive such complaints as might be
preferred.
